Shelter in Place

A storm is coming, take shelter,
Have you got time to evaluate,
Weigh up the options?

Run to cover,
The sturdiest structure
A roof over your head.

Rumours have been circulating,
Information has been percolating
But now the order is here.

Now we wonder, if this box
Counts as home,
Mourning who is missing.

As we hide from the downpour
We hear about,
But do not see.

We stay in place
Turning on the spot
The threat outside

Or lurking inside
Symptoms waiting
To emerge.

The refuges are closed,
The sanctuary gates are shut,
Asylum is not offered.

So we huddle for safekeeping,
Taking shelter
In this place.
