Teach me how to celebrate

When people weep
And the battle still rages,
When stories of victory
Sound mythical to my ears.

When I am privileged
But others are struggling.
When I am powerless
And others are suffering.

To honour the world you created,
Not the state we've made.
Dwell in the land you've promised,
Not cling to the life I've built.

To recognize hope
And remember promises,
To celebrate not where I am
But who you are.
