What if God were a virus?

Would I approach
After cursory hand washing
A half recalled ritual
From a laminated card,

Fear for the vulnerable,
The growing young
And fading old
In their fragility,

Cluck sympathetically
For the workers,
Tending the victims
Overworked, underpaid,

Even if I succumb
Assume the bout will pass,
Leaving a legacy
Of greater resistance,

But what if
This is a time I'll remember,
The moment
When the paths diverged,

Would I step out
Or self isolate
Hide indoors,
Till the moment has passed?
