Anyone said anything to you that was stupid? Vent spleen here and save our precious hampsters from abuse.
When I said some stuff at the front in church about God drawing away and then to some extent coming closer, someone came up to me afterwards and said I still needed to forgive God, which I thought a) I was already doing and b) totally missed the point. That wasn't the stupid thing though, the stupid thing was she then went and told someone she had "told me what I needed to do". It still makes me angry.
I hope you tell her what she needs to do
I was just getting on a train yesterday from my mum's and she said to me if I'm stressed it's because of religious worries, e.g. worrying if I'm not good enough then Father Christmas won't give me a new prayer book. Why does she always make sarcastic comments about my faith at inconvenient moments? I wanted to say to her that if I'm stressed it's because of my work and because people keep telling me I should get more done with the time I've got, and if I didn't have God to depend on I'd be far worse, and who is she to speak anyway since, like Prince's mother, she's never satisfied - and is always worrying about me and global warming and girlfriends and my pension and my happiness, and life and decorating and...
Not directly said to me, but a friend of mine who teaches at a Catholic school told me someone who works for the UN (encouraging protest movements and things, apparently) came to speak at the school and supported his talk by saying "As the Buddha said", "as Jesus said" etc. Apparently what Jesus said was "If five people stare at the sun, they can change the world." Eh???
Offspring said something about salesmen staring at the sun and something about the world... I don't recall what.
It's at http://www.offspring.com/lyrics/lyrics_ixnay_ctw.html A plausible connection I suppose. Apparently this bloke wanted to get rid of religion and introduce new 'political forms'. This is all starting to sound strangely familiar...
