I know you’re a spoilerific podcast, but if you want to give clues to guess the films, it might be best not to put the titles in the podcast description :-)
When I said I didn’t “get” An American Werewolf in London, I meant I watched about 10 minutes and didn’t realise it was supposed a comedy so it just seemed a bit naff.
When you started describing The Thing I thought, hang on I’ve seen this, but with Doctor Who in it… I “searched it up” and discovered the following quote about a 1976 Doctor Who storyline – which I have seen:
“Seeds Of Doom is a hugely entertaining piece of action-horror, and a worthy if low-budget precursor to John Carpenter’s masterful version of The Thing, made six years later. (Did this influence Carpenter’s movie? I don’t know, but it’s possible; the guy knew and loved British horror films)”

I totally agree about the problem with electronic music dating films – some 70s/80s Doctor Who also suffers badly from this
Fair point about guessing the films, but I think the real joy is hearing me guess, not guessing yourselves – you’d probably only get it right or something. We can’t leave the film titles out of the podcast description – otherwise our listenership would go down from one to zero…

Amazing use of “search it up”, well done. Exciting that Doctor Who might have inspired The Thing. It’s just horror for kids. I might add it suffers from quite a few things, not just the music. How remarkable how well the title music has aged…
