Dear all,
Activity on GE has been pretty much zero, and I just don't seem to have enough time to write new articles. Meanwhile the spam attacks continue, and I don't really have time to fight them off, King Canute-like. So, I am thinking of retiring the site, and making a static archive of it available so that people can still read what we talked about, but the spammers can't ruin it.
This will make me very sad, but unless some people are prepared to start writing articles, I don't think the site is going to have any momentum. It has been amazing sharing ideas, inspiration and frustration with you all: don't stop expressing the unspeakable!
If you don't think the end has come yet for GE, let me know. I'd love to see it continue to be useful to people, and a place where I can hang out.
By the way, my email address andy@guiltyexpression.org appears to have been silently throwing my emails away for ages now, so I'm _really_ sorry if you emailed me - it just didn't get to me. Try my other address - andy at artificialworlds.net and you will definitely get me.
Love, and see you around.
Andy

Sorry I haven't added any comments for a long time! There was a time when I watched with avid interest seeing what people wrote. I found their words and thoughts both inspiring and irritating but in the end always thought provoking. I hope your message has the same reaction as it has sparked off in me. Your work on this site has served a purpose. It has challenged people to think more deeply about God and faith. It has been worth it. I hope it can survive!

I'd be sad to see it go. It's a place where I feel I can get responses from people who understand each other, that are more helpful than all the people around who think evangelicalism is just obviously wrong. It's given me a lot to think about, and when I get round to reading the older stuff again it always encourages me.
I haven't made more of an effort to write recently as I was waiting to see if anyone else was still around before writing any long postings. I expect most people have been taken over by the cares of life.
It'd be good to keep it readable. If not, I'd want to be able to download all the articles and discussion before it disappears! Would it be possible to keep the wiki going on its own, with a log-in to deter spam?

Hey guys,
It is a real shame to hear this Andy, as I last remembered you discussing the possibilities of reaching a wider audience. If I am correct I think that a few suggestions such as flyers at campuses, and other media were thrown in for outreach. I wished to hear what would come of this, but then like you said; activity dwindled. (for reasons you described)
If there is no blocking on further submissions then theres nothing stopping me personally from writing anything, but like an above poster mentioned I was saving youse from reading my rambled projections...for the moment...
Moments like this can lead to reflection, and let us seriously consider what our aims were, if there were aims in the first place. I always had the impression that posts made here were unforced, natural. We just came to get things off our chest.
what is to be done peps? Should things end here?

As far as I know no-one used the fliers anywhere :)
It would be great to keep the site going, but it needs people writing articles and discussing things here. Since I don't have time to write enough articles, it would need others to contribute.

Midge, have you submitted any articles? If not, why not? You've got plenty of interesting things to say.

I refer you to my previous post:
I haven't made more of an effort to write recently as I was waiting to see if anyone else was still around before writing any long postings.
or as an equation (everything has an equation these days):
Motivation to post = constant * Things to say * Interesting responses / Busyness
I've got 100s of things to say, but the activity on the site in the last few months hasn't motivated me to write any more than my short postings, when balanced against the need to satisfy the job centre or the university, or talk to my friends etc. etc. I got the impression I would be mainly talking to myself, or maybe one other person. But maybe there are other some people out there still.

Thanks for the comment. Maybe I'll get round to posting something new soon.

Can I also say that the meal the other day was great. There are so many things to talk about at someone's house but they all seem to go adrift when super monkey ball is on!!

Blimey - just now it says there are 113 unregistered users on-line. If that's really true, we ought to keep going!
I feel an article coming - after all, I write pages and pages in my diary about trying to work out my beliefs. I just need to find some time to type something up.

Sorry - it seems to have stopped sending me emails when a new article is submitted.
Aargh.
Anyway, the first of 3 new articles is now up!

OK - I won't send you any more just yet. I'm back from the depths of the nasty cold/flu, so hopefully I'll be around here a bit more.

PS keep intending to write more articles - when I'm not exhausted / fighting off urgent tasks.
